When is the number of animals you have, too many animals? I've always felt, as I know others have, that the number of animals in your house should never outnumber the number of people. In our house, the number of people is two. The number of animals was two up until a few days ago when that doubled to FOUR.
No matter how you slice it, a giant clumsy greyhound, a big boned kitty (who has been referred to as a badger, but she's ours and we love her), and two fish equal 4 animals. Katharine and I, at least until cloning humans is legal, equal 2 people. How'd that happen? Didn't we have a rule? We did have a rule, but fish are small and incredibly relaxing to watch. We got Betta fish which are supposedly the easiest fish in the world to take care of. I always feel bad for them because you can't put them in with other fish, but I've seen what happens when you don't follow that rule. I've broken that rule and it's not pretty...I blame the guy at the pet store that said you could put them in with goldfish. He was wrong. Anyway...that was years ago...moving on.
We got two fish, one for Katharine to take care of and one for me. She named hers Uglie with an "IE" because truthfully, he is. I think that's why she picked him. Mine is sleek with dark colors. I named him Darth Betta...because it's a cool name for a fish. I think Uglie is jealous because his name is Uglie. No seriously, I don't think he cares. I think he's just happy to get out of that tiny cup they keep them in at the store.
I'm still on a quest to provide my Betta fish with some company...maybe a snail. I think it'll be OK because snails have shells. They should be safe, right?
