My Doctor Held My Prescription Hostage

Has this ever happened to you? So, I take this medicine that controls stomach acid...not a big deal...take one a day and the discomfort goes bye bye. The problem I have comes up everytime this medicine is up for prescription renewal. My doctor likes to take the opportunity to get me in for an appointment so she can make some money. Money, money, money always seems to come before healthcare.

Last time I needed a refill, my doctor told me that my insurance company insisted on her giving me a different medication. The one I'm taking works well, has no obvious side effects...why would I want to take something different. Having grown to mistrust doctors, I called the insurance company and they said there was no such policy. I smell kickbacks...but I have no proof. My doctor didn't argue when I called to tell her. This time, when up for renewal, the same doctor insists that I make an appointment for a physical before she will refill my prescription...BUT...they're not booking physicals until July...I'm glad it's so important to her for me to go in. I make my appointment...I get my prescription...it runs out a week after my appointment. Hopefully that appointment doesn't get cancelled...who knows what she'll want for my next renewal. Thanks for the stress doc...don't you know that too much stress can cause medical problems? Anyone else have doctor stories like this that they want to share?

just another corrupt system. love it.

check this out:

"Here are the prices he found at Houston stores for 90 tablets of
generic Prozac:

Walgreens: $117
Eckerd: $115
CVS: $115
Sam's Club: $15
Costco: $12

Those aren't typos. Walgreens charges $117 for a bottle of the same pills for which Costco charges $12.

I was skeptical at first. Why on earth, I asked Wolf, would anyone in his right mind fill his generic prescription at Walgreen's instead of Costco?"

nuts.

lots of love ^_^

I would say that, since it sounds like you don't trust your current physician, it's time to get a new one. My PCP likes to see me at least once a year when he's renewing my presciptions, but he is also usually giving me a couple of months of free samples he gets of the scrips I use. I have never had a problem with getting a renewal - even if my annual physical is 3 or 4 months away.
