...And It's Called "Corky's"

So, I'm watching QVC...I know...it's sad but true...and they finally came on with a item that I'm having trouble resisting. That product is Item#M9006, Corky's BBQ 4lbs Fully Cooked Pork Riblets, because everyone needs a little Corky's in your life. So, I'm watching QVC and they're peeling Corky's off the bone and slapping all it's greasy goodness into their happy faces. I'm a little unsure about buying food from QVC and having it mailed to me...but as Katharine reminded me...food is at some point shipped from somewhere. Take a look at my Corky's:

You want some...don't you? As we're watching...the testimonials were pouring in from the RV park...Corky's riblets are fantastic. Ohhh... next, they're talking about stuffed lobster tails! Gotta run!

All of that Peanutty Goodness

Look at me in my previous blog...I was looked back at it and it's funny to me that I assume that I have an international audience! Anyway...that's not why I'm back today with a second topic. Some of you will recall that my Peanut Butter Toast Crunch was discontinued and my remaining supply was slowly dwindling away in the cupboard. I'm happy to announce today that I found more! In a store where it wasn't discontinued. Apparently...it was the store that didn't feel the need to carry it anymore.

So...today I received an e-mail from my future sister-in-law...and here's what she said:

So I went to the grocery store this morning to get some ingredients for my thanksgiving dessert, and low and behold, peanut butter crunch was on sale at Star. So because I have heard rave reviews I got some... It is "not bad", though I am more of a fan of Peanut butter captin crunch...

Anyhow, while I was eating it, I was thinking, "I am sort of enjoying this, but not as much as jeff would, am I wasting the peanut butter toast crunch experience on unappreciative taste buds?"

I think the answer is "yes"

sorry jeff...

Thankfully, I have two brand spanking shiny new boxes of Peanut Butter Toast Crunch in the cupboard...otherwise, I would have cried...sobbed even...at the thought that Karen was wasting all the peanutty goodness of my Toast Crunch!

Turkey Comes But Once a Year

Why is it that we (at least if you're reading this from the United States) typically only eat turkey and all the crap that goes with turkey, on Thanksgiving...or Christmas...you know...typically on a holiday? When people eat turkey, they eat as much turkey as they can possible jam in their stomachs because they're not going to see it again until the next holiday. Is that necessary? Do all the turkeys of the world have to be left alone the rest of the year so we have enough for Thanksgiving? Maybe we eat SO MANY of them on this holiday that there aren't any the rest of the year. I don't know what it is, but every year I say that I'm going to make it more often...then I forget about it. This year, I made my turkey on Sunday and we've had turkey all week at my house. We're not following the rules this year. It's turkey and satellite radio this year for Thanksgiving! Did I mention that satellite radio rules!? Everyone should have it! I've had it for a week and I'm addicted. Oh, right...turkey...we made our turkey for this year, so we'll have to go out to eat on Thanksgiving Day...we have reservations already. What'll be on the menu? Why...turkey of course. Why would we want anything else? Happy Thanksgiving all...don't forget the buy your Maalox Max before the local drug store closes for the holiday!

Captain Kirk wants to Send You DVDs

OK, I had to share this with you all...this is funny. Basically, for $4 a month, William Shatner's DVD Club will send you a DVD of William Shatner's choice every month...oh...and here's the good part. You get to KEEP IT. You don't get to pick what it is...but you get to keep it!! Isn't that exciting?!

http://www.shatnerdvdclub.com/html/

As crazy as this sounds...it prompted me to write about it, which is publicity. I'm tempted to pay $4 a month, just so I can tell all of you what fantastic Sci-Fi and Horror Movies that William Shatner has sent me...it would be a monthly feature I could call, "DVDs From My Friend Bill". If someone signs up, you HAVE to tell me what the first DVD is.

I'm Sirius

OK, so now I've gone and done it. Every morning I drive to work...Katharine is with me for half the ride...the other half, the radio keeps me company. More and more, I'm annoyed with the chatter of morning radio...and it's dumb chatter 90% of the time...on every broadcast station, the morning DJs try to be funny, but they can't be funny because if they're REALLY funny, the FCC will fine them. Not to say they can't be funny and "clean" at the same time, but they're trying to be shock jocks in a "clean" format. It makes for boring morning radio...and if I can't stand that morning chatter...if the DJs are going to suck, I at least want to listen to music...sadly they're only playing one song in between all the crappy talk talk talk. So I'm turning to satellite radio...they actually have music...and bye bye censorship. No more FCC interference in freedom of speech...freedom of enjoyment...because too many people didn't understand that there's freedom to change the station if you don't like what you're hearing. So hello Sirius and goodbye blather of broadcast.

Missed Appointments

The scenario...you have a doctor's appointment scheduled, but you happen to have the flu that morning and you stay home in bed. You get a bill from the doctor for a missed appointment...because you were sick. That bill is something stupid like $160...more than the doctor would have billed the insurance company if you showed up for the appointment. OK...so days have gone by and you're healthy again...you rescheduled your appointment and the time for your new appointment has arrived. You go to your appointment and the doctor is out sick. You are AT the appointment...writing that co-payment check...and you find out that the doctor is out. Sick. Just like you were the first time when they charged you for missing an appointment. Shouldn't you be able to charge them for a missed appointment? I think so...

Monty Helps with the Leaves and Lily Still Hates Him

Monty loves his yard now...he loves it. He loves it SO much in fact that he wants it to resemble the racetrack he used to run on. The grass that used to be there...disappearing as fast as the hair on my head. He runs around the yard at about 25MPH and this weekend, he decided to help us with the leaves.

And Lily...not to be outdone and demanding equal time in the blog, has decided that she will have pink claws. And if you laugh at her...well...she won't do ANYTHING because her claws are covered and she only has 5 teeth left.

Good Night Sleep

When's the last time you went mattress shopping? I'll start off by saying that our bed sucked...it SUCKED. It was this cheap ass bed that I paid very little for about 3 years ago and it was already misshapen and lumpy and SOOOOO uncomfortable. If I can give one piece of advice that people would actually listen to, it's this...don't skimp when you buy a mattress...it doesn't last long at all...it's bad for your overall health...and you'll need another one in a few years (which goes right along with "it doesn't last long at all").

We went to Jordan's Furniture last weekend and paid a visit to the Sleep Lab. We met with a certified Sleep Technician. He knew everything there was to know about mattresses and comfortable sleep. He asked our sleeping preferences and comfort preferences...and then told us we didn't need a hard mattress. We could get something comfy...we just needed comfy with support. YES!

We tried about 6 different mattresses with different qualities and different firmness. We particularly liked the fact that our mattress didn't have to SUCK! The best one we tried was the Nature's Rest Foam Mattress. We slept on it for the first time last night...and guess what? MY ARM DIDN'T DIE! My arm didn't die last night...usally my arm dies once a night. It is the best bed in the entire world. It has support and pressure relief and the latex reduces pressure to the body's soft tissue to allow improved blood flow and reduce tossing and turning.

And then Monty threw up twice. You can't have everything.

Sick Day!

Normally, it's fun to stay home from work. You can do whatever you want...you can do absolutely nothing if you want. It sucks when you're home and you're sick. Sick and tired...literally, as the case was today. When I'm home sick, I find that I do a lot of the things I would do on a normal day if I didn't leave the house. I play video games, I watch TV, I read (it's true...I DO read, although slowly)...but those activities don't feel fun when you're feeling less than healthy. Of course, there are different kinds of sick. There's "the flu" sick...which Katharine has...it's the flu sick that makes you sleep off and on all day long...leaves you achy. Then there's the tired sick...that sick you get when you didn't sleep the night before, which in my case was accompanied by a sore throat. A sore throat that can only be countered with Vitamin C throat drops or those extra strength throat numby drops...Chloroseptic...or something. I prefer the sore throat to the flu and head cold...unless my throat is so sore that it's all puffy...not that it looks puffy...but feels puffy. I would say in order from worst to best...if I had to be sick, I would put the sickness in this order:

1) The Flu (the full blown flu, complete with aches and pains)
2) Head Cold (that icky starts with head congestion and moves into your chest over a week period of time)
3) The Sore Throat
4) The Headache (not the nasty migrane...just a headache. I imagine the nasty migrane would be around #2

And that's all really...that's all.
