A Typical Monday Night Only Weeks from Halloween

When Halloween and Christmas Collide

Wait...Halloween and Christmas should NEVER collide because Thanksgiving is in the middle. At least that would be the next holiday sensationalized if we cared about it anymore. Did we forget about Thanksgiving? Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pie...wait...OK, I'm back. I personally would never forget about Thanksgiving, but apparently Target did because they've aisled (is that a word) spooky Halloween decorations with Christmas lights and tree stands.

Seriously? Has it all been so commercialized now that it has to start in October? Why not just make it a year round holiday? Once a month, we gather with family and friends to celebrate Christmas in {Insert Month Here}. We used to do that when we were camping when I was a kid...we'd celebrate Christmas in July, but that was only because you mostly only saw your summer camping friends during the summer. And what is it about Christmas that we start in October, but we don't start planning for Halloween in August? Or Thanksgiving in September? Or New Years in July while we're making preparations for the 4th? Don't both of those use fireworks? We could technically combine 4th of July and New Years Eve for a massive super duper fireworks extravaganza! But I'm getting away from the original thought brought on by Target...let's enjoy Halloween and Thankgsgiving first, and then it can be Christmas' turn after that. If nothing else, America's children will be a bit less confused this way.

"Mommy...can I get an Elmo skin for Christmas?"

"That's a costume honey...it's for Halloween. Elmo is OK."

I heard a similar comment made in the store that very day. It's true.

My New Obsession with Blueberry

Every morning on my way to work, I used to stop at Dunkin Donuts for my large coffee with skim milk and regular sugar. Regular sugar...not that crap liquid sugar they tried to push on me last year. Recently, I started riding into work with a friend of mine, and he too wanted to stop at Dunkin Donuts. Then one day, I discovered Green Mountain Wild Mountain Blueberry coffee.

We ordered it for the coffee maker at work just to try it out and now it's the daily ritual instead of Dunkin Donuts. It's the best coffee ever, it saves time getting into the office, and it's FREE. To me anyway.

But the blueberry doesn't stop there. It stops with Wachusett Blueberry Ale...which is...you guessed it, the best beer ever. Who would have thought that all this blueberry would be so delicious. The only thing it's missing is actual blueberries in the beer. Oh...I'm going to try that next time I have some.

So go out and get yourself from blueberry. Maybe you'll put it in pancakes...maybe you'll make a pie. You decide and tell me about it.

Another Culinary Success

Because I couldn't stand the thought of eating out again, I once again decided to cook something at home. I won't talk about it because anyone can talk about it...I'll just show me my Shepards Pie masterpiece.

When Style Returns to the 80s

They say that every so many years (what is it...like 30 years?) fashion cycles back and you see people wearing clothes from another time. Apparently, my jeans wish that they lived in the 80s...not just one pair...ALL of my jeans decided to tear at the knees at the same time. Either that or my jeans from the 1980s have traveled through time to be here because they missed me.

For the first time in a couple of years, I had to go out and buy more jeans...3 pairs...so now I'm good. Good. I get my jeans from L.L. Bean...the Double L Classic jeans are the only ones that I find fit really well so that's what I got for the ridiculous, but necessary price of $100 for the three of them. I shouldn't need anymore jeans for another long while to come until that ripped at the knee fashion cycle returns.
